received after 24:00 on 3rd April 2000 will not be
accepted.
- Answers must
be in your own words and in English. Copied-pasted
answers will not be graded!
- Your answers
should be clear and descriptive. You should give examples
where applicable. Answers looking like dictionary
definitions will not be accepted. I expect 3-5 pages
answer sheets from each student.
- You can use
Bilkent Library resources and the Internet for your
research. Indicate clearly the resources you have used to
gather information. (For books; give titles, publishers,
chapter info; for WWW resources, give URLs).
- Every student
must do their work independently. "Working together"
is NOT acceptable.
- What is “Operating System
Scalability”? What does it mean?
- What is an “Operating
System Kernel”?
- Do a research on the
comparison of UNIX and Microsoft NT operating systems and
report your findings in at most one page.
- There is an algorithm called
the “Round Robin (RR) algorithm” used in scheduling
processes in a multi-tasking operating system environment.
Find out the principles of this algorithm (or technique)
and describe in your own words how RR works.
